The Moon and Safiyyah RA

Safiyyah (R.A)

She was the daughter of Hayi, Who was a descendant of Hadhrat Harun (a.s) the brother of Moosa (a.s). She was first married to Salam bin Mishkam and then to Kinallah bin Abi Huqaiq at the time of Khevbar. Kinallah was killed in the battle and she was captured by the Muslims. Hadhrat Dahya Kalbi (Radhiyallaho anha) requested for a maid, and the Prophet Mohammad (صلى الله عليه وسلم) made her over to him. At this, the other Sahabah approached the Prophet Mohammad (صلى الله عليه وسلم) and said:
“O, Prophet of Allah! Banu Nazir and Banu Quraizah (the Jewish tribes of Madinah) will feel offended to see the daughter of a Jewish chief working as a maid. We therefore suggest that she may be taken as your own wife.”
The Prophet Mohammad (صلى الله عليه وسلم) paid a reasonable sum of money to Hadhrat Dahya (r.a) as ransom, and said to Safiyyah: “You are now free; if you like you can go back to your tribe or can be my wife.”
She said: “I longed to be with you while I was a Jew. How can I leave you now, when I am a Muslim?
This is probably a reference to the fact that she once saw in her dream a portion of the moon falling into her lap. When she mentioned her dream to Kinanah, he smote her face so severely that she developed a mark on her eye. He said: “You seem to be desiring to become the wife of the King of Madinah.”
Her father is also reported to have treated her similarly when she related the same or similar dream to him. She again saw (in her dream) the sun lying on her breast. When she mentioned this to her husband, he remarked:
“You seem to be wishing to become the Queen of Madinah.”
She says: “I was seventeen when I was married to the Prophet Mohammad (صلى الله عليه وسلم) . She came to live with the Prophet Mohammad (صلى الله عليه وسلم) when he was camping at the first stage from Khaiber. Next morning, he said to the Sahabah: “Let everybody bring whatever he has got to eat.”
They brought their own dates, cheese, butter, etc. A long leather sheet was spread and all sat round it to share the food among themselves. This was the Walimah for the marriage.
She died in Ramadan, 50 A. H., when she was about 60.

Amazing

Read this small story; Hope that makes a BIG change in YOU
.
The Professor began his class by holding up a glass with some water in it. He held it up for all to see & asked the students “How much do you think this glass weighs?”
.
’50grams!’….. ’100grams!’ …..’125 gms’ …the students answered.
.
“I really don’t know unless I weigh it,” said the professor, “but, my question is:
What would happen if I held it up like this for a few minutes?”…. .
‘Nothing’ …..the students said.
.
‘Ok what would happen if I held it up like this for an hour?’ the professor asked.
‘Your arm would begin to ache’ said one of the student
.
“You’re right, now what would happen if I held it for a day?”
“Your arm could go numb; you might have severe muscle stress & paralysis & have to go to hospital for sure!”
….. Ventured another student & all the students laughed
.
“Very good.
But during all this, did the weight of the glass change?” Asked the professor.
‘No’…. Was the answer.
“Then what caused the arm ache & the muscle stress?”
.
The students were puzzled.
“What should I do now to come out of pain?” asked professor again.
“Put the glass down!” said one of the students
.
“Exactly!” said the professor.
Life’s problems are something like this.
.
Hold it for a few minutes in your head & they seem OK.
Think of them for a long time & they begin to ache.
.
Hold it even longer & they begin to paralyze you. You will not be able to do anything.
.
It’s important to think of the challenges or problems in your life, But EVEN MORE IMPORTANT is to ‘PUT THEM DOWN’ at the end of every day before you go to sleep…
.
That way, you are not stressed, you wake up every day fresh &strong & can handle any issue, any challenge that comes your way!
.
Moral
So, when you start your day today, Remember friend to ‘PUT THE GLASS DOWN TODAY! ‘

Real Love

My husband is an Engineer by profession, I love him for his steady nature, and I love the warm feeling when I lean against his broad shoulders.
Three years of courtship and now, two years into marriage, I would have to admit, that I am getting tired of it. The reasons of me loving him before, has now transformed into the cause of all my restlessness.
I am a sentimental woman and extremely sensitive when it comes to a relationship and my feelings, I yearn for the romantic moments, like a little girl yearning for candy. My husband, is my complete opposite, his lack of sensitivity, and the inability of bringing romantic moments into our marriage has disheartened me about love.
One day, I finally decided to tell him my decision, that I wanted a divorce.
“Why?” he asked, shocked. “I am tired, there are no reasons for everything in the world!” I answered. He kept silent the whole night, seems to be in deep thought with a lighted cigarette at all times. My feeling of disappointment only increased, here was a man who can’t even express his predicament, what else can I hope from him? And finally he asked me:” What can I do to change your mind?”
Somebody said it right, it’s hard to change a person’s personality, and I guess, I have started losing faith in him. Looking deep into his eyes I slowly answered : “Here is the question, if you can answer and convince my heart, I will change my mind, Let’s say, I want a flower located on the face of a mountain cliff, and we both are sure that picking the flower will cause your death, will you do it for me?” He said :” I will give you your answer tomorrow….” My hopes just sank by listening to his response.
I woke up the next morning to find him gone, and saw a piece of paper with his scratchy handwriting, underneath a milk glass, on the dining table near the front door, that goes…. My dear, “I would not pick that flower for you, but please allow me to explain the reasons further..” This first line was already breaking my heart. I continued reading.
“When you use the computer you always mess up the Software programs, and you cry in front of the screen, I have to save my fingers so that I can help to restore the programs. You always leave the house keys behind, thus I have to save my legs to rush home to open the door for you. You love traveling but always lose your way in a new city, I have to save my eyes to show you the way. You always have the cramps whenever your “good friend” approaches every month, I have to save my palms so that I can calm the cramps in your tummy.
You like to stay indoors, and I worry that you will be infected by infantile autism. I have to save my mouth to tell you jokes and stories to cure your boredom. You always stare at the computer, and that will do nothing good for your eyes, I have to save my eyes so that when we grow old, I can help to clip your nails, and help to remove those annoying white hairs. So I can also hold your hand while strolling down the beach, as you enjoy the sunshine and the beautiful sand… and tell you the color of flowers, just like the color of the glow on your young face… Thus, my dear, unless I am sure that there is someone who loves you more than I do… I could not pick that flower yet, and die.. ”
My tears fell on the letter, and blurred the ink of his handwriting… and as I continue on reading… “Now, that you have finished reading my answer, if you are satisfied, please open the front door for I am standing outside bringing your favorite bread and fresh milk… I rush to pull open the door, and saw his anxious face, clutching tightly with his hands, the milk bottle and loaf of bread….
Now I am very sure that no one will ever love me as much as he does, and I have decided to leave the flower alone…
That’s life, and love. When one is surrounded by love, the feeling of excitement fades away, and one tends to ignore the true love that lies in between the peace and dullness.
Love shows up in all forms, even very small and cheeky forms, it has never been a model, it could be the most dull and boring form.. . flowers, and romantic moments are only used and appear on the surface of the relationship. Under all this, the pillar of true love stands… and that’s our life… Love, not words win arguments…

The Right groom

Someone came to a father, asking him for the hand of his daughter in marriage: ”Sir I am ready to pay her any Mahr she wants! I have already a house and a car … If you let me marry your daughter, I would treat her like a princess”
The father told him:“There is only one Mahr you can pay! For that, I will ask you one question, if you give me the right answer, I will let you marry my daughter… I won’t ask you to give my daughter wealth, house or high status; I want you just to give me the right answer for my question!”
The boy was so happy and he accepted the condition of the father.
The father looked straight into the eyes of the young man and asked :”In which time the Adhan of Fajr (call for fajr prayer) is called exactly?“
the young man’s face turned to red then yellow, he replied after a long time thinking: ”I guess it’s at 4am? no … I mean 3 maybe?! Honestly Sir, I don’t know!”
... “Dear son” said the father smiling: ”I don’t care of your high status or your bank account! My daughter is so precious, she is like a princess to me with her Hijab and purity so she needs someone who treats her like a queen! No one would make her happy more than a man who fears Allah and obeys Him. Only a righteous husband would give her an unlimited happiness by helping her to get closer to Allah ”

Eight Things to Learn

One time a scholar asked one of his students, "You have spent a long time with me, what have you learned?"

He said I learned eight things:

First, I looked to the creation. Everyone has a loved one. When he goes to the grave, he leaves his loved one. Therefore, I made my loved one my good deeds; that way, they will be with me in the grave.

Second, I looked to the verse, "But as for him who feared to stand before his Lord and restrained his soul from lust," therefore, I struggled against my desires so I could stay obeying Allah.

Third, I saw that if anyone has something with him that is worth something, he will protect it. Then I thought about the verse,"That which you have is wasted away; and that which is with Allah remains," therefore, everything worth something with me I devoted to Him so it would be with Him for me.

Fourth, I saw the people seeking wealth, honor and positions and it was not worth anything to me. Then I thought about Allah's words, "Lo, the noblest of you in the sight of Allah is the most aware of Allah, so I did my best to become aware of Allah in order to gain nobility in his sight.

Fifth, I saw the people being jealous towards each other and I looked at the verse, "We have apportioned among them their livelihood in the life of the world", so I left jealousy.

Sixth, I saw the people having enmity and I thought about the verse, "Lo, the devil is an enemy for you, so take him as an enemy", so I left enmity and I took the Satan as my only enemy.

Seventh, I saw them debasing themselves in search of sustenance and I thought about the verse, "And there is not a beast in the earth but the sustenance thereof depends on Allah", so I kept myself busy with my responsibilities toward Him and I left my property with Him.

Eighth, I found them relying on their business, buildings and health and I thought about the verse, "And whosoever puts his trust in Allah, He will suffice him", therefore, I put my trust only on Allah.

An easy way to be a Mujaahid

Be a Hero

When a little girl cries halfway around the world, are her
tears any less real? Would you like to be like a Mujaahid or
like those who spend their days fasting and their nights
praying?

"One who cares for widows and the poor is like those

who fight in the way of Allah or those who spend their

days fasting and their nights praying." [Agreed upon,

also in Adab al-Mufrad of Imaam Al-Bukhari in chapter
"The Virtue of Those Who Care for Orphans"]

Would you like your heart to soften and Allah
subhaanahuwata`aalaa to answer your prayers?

A man once came to the Messenger of Allah,

sallallaahu`alaihi wasallam, and complained that he

feels hardness in his heart. The Messenger of Allah

said, what translated means, "Would you like that

your heart becomes soft and that you acquire what

you need? Be merciful with the orphan, pat his head

and feed him from what you eat. This will soften your

heart, and enable you to get what you need."

The Man who was Tested.

The Man who was tested

Several years ago an Imam moved to London, United Kingdom. He often took the bus from his home to the downtown area. Some weeks after he arrived, he had occasion to ride the same bus. When he sat down, he discovered that the driver had accidentally given him a twenty pence (a.k.a 'tuppence') too much change.

As he considered what to do, he thought to himself, you better give the twenty pence back. It would be wrong to keep it. Then he thought, "Oh, forget it, it's only tuppence. Who would worry about this little amount? Anyway the bus company already gets too much fare; they will never miss it. Accept it as a gift from Allah (swt) and keep quiet."

When his stop came, the Imam paused momentarily at the door, then he handed the twenty pence back to the driver and said, "Here, you gave me too much change". The driver with a smile, replied,"Aren't you the new Imam in this area? I have been thinking lately about going to worship at your Mosque.I just wanted to see what you would do, if I gave you too much change."

When the Imam, stepped off the bus, his knees became weak and soft, he literally grabbed the nearest light pole, and held on for support, and looked up to the heavens and cried: "Oh Allah, I almost sold You and Islam for twenty pence!"

Hidden under the Tongue: What is Beauty?

The Story of two slaves

Once a king purchased 2 slaves. One of them was very handsome while the other was very ugly.
The king asked the handsome slave to go and take a bath. While he was away the king turned to the other slave and said "Your companion has given a very bad account of you, he said that you are a thief and of bad character. Is this correct?"

The slave replied that his companion was a handsome person, and his exterior beauty must be reflected by inward beauty as well. He could not believe that such a beautiful man could tell a lie. He therefore said "If my companion has a bad opinion about me, there must certainly be something wrong with me. I am afraid he must be correct."

The king observed that beauty was only an Allah given gift, and it did not follow that a person who had a handsome face had a pure heart as well.

The king was greatly impressed with the character and intelligence of this slave. In the meantime, the first slave had returned from his bath.

The king sent the second slave (i.e. the ugly slave to have a bath) and in his absence told the handsome slave that his fellow slave had given a bad account of him. On hearing this, the slave burst into invectives against his companion and said that he was a rascal and a liar.

The king thus came to the conclusion that the slave with a beautiful face had no inner worth while the slave with an ugly face had much inner worth.

The moral of the story is that beauty is only skin deep. All that glitters is not gold. "Every man is hidden under his own tongue" The tongue reveals the inner intelligence as well as inner vileness. "The safety of a man lies in holding his tongue"

Rasulullaah (s.a.w.) said: " He who is silent is successful!"

Short Story: Showing Love is a Cure

The Power of Sadaqah

This is true story that happened a few years ago. A man was afflicted with a heart affliction. No one in Egypt could help him, so hewent to the UK for medical help. He went to the doctors in the UK  and they did an X-ray and found something in his heart like a tumor in his heart, very lfe-threatening. So the doctors had to do  some work on it, but the man be be begged "Please send me back to Egypt to see my family then I can come back to do surgery." They said, "No, you can't."  He said, "Please, I beg you." They said, "If you insist you can go for two or three days maximum and take this medicine and continuously take it and you have to come back in more than 3 days or so."

So he goes back to Egypt to see his family a little sad, his wife and daughter with him. They try to comfort each other. Then he goes to see some of his friends. When he goes outside he notices  an old lady beside a Halal meat shop. Every time the butcher would throw away the excess parts of the meat, the woman would run around, picking up the wasted peices he'd throw away and put them in a bag. All this was happening before the man with the heart problem. He was taken by this. He ran and rushed to the old lady, he said out of respect, "Ya ummi, what are you doing, whats going on?" She told him, " I have six children, and the  last time we ate meat was six months ago.|"
He was so touched by that the he said,"Wallaahi I'll take care of you.|" He went to the butcher and said, "Listen, I'll pay you one year ahead." He asked the poor woman, " Ya ummi, how much do you want?"  She said, "Two pounds." He told the butcher, "Four pounds. Every singles time she comes, give her four pounds..here you go, here's a cheque, go ahead." She then fell on the floor making dua for him, dua and more dua " Rabbanaa yashfeek.." And she was crying. Then the man left, and he says," I felt my heart was so happy an excited, I felt like I could destroy a wall right now from how energetic I was.
So he went home and knocked on the door. His daughter answered the door and looked at her father and said, " You look different.. you look different." He said, "Wallahi I feel so good I no longer want to see the doctors in the UK. His daughter said, "Baba, don't get too excited.. what happened?" He mentioned the old lady and how he felt so good. He said," I dont want to go back, I want to stay with you guys" His daughter said, " Daddy, you have to go back."
So he said ok and  went back and the doctors did the X-ray. They said, " Where in the world did you go?" To what hospital  Did you go to the states? Where did you go?" He said, What are you talking about?" They asked, " Where did you go, what happened." The man didn't know what was going on. The doctors said, "The X-ray shows nothing in you heart, it shows nothing in your heart!" The man said," Wallahi I didnt do anything." They said, "Its impossible, look. They put both X-rays beside each other and put on the light. They said, "Look at this and look at that-are you
the same person?" They were baffled. They could explain what happen. Thats when the man remembered the hadith of the Messenger of Allah, Sallallaahu alayhi wassallam, "Cure your sick with charity."

The Greatness of Friday

A Source of Light

Whoever recites Surat al-Kahf on Friday, light shall shine forth for him between the two Fridays

Prayers are accepted

Rasulullah (Allah bless him & give him peace) said: "There is such an hour on Friday that if any Muslim makes dua in it, his dua will definitely be accepted. " (Bukhari, Muslim)

Your greetings are shown to Rasulallah

Rasulullah (Allah bless him & give him peace) said: "Of all the days, Friday is the most virtuous. It is on this day that the trumpet will be blown. Send abundant salaam upon me on Fridays because they are presented to me on that day. " The Sahabah  radiallahu anhum asked: "O Rasulullah! How will they be presented to you when even your bones will not be present after your death?" Rasulullah (Allah bless him & give him peace) replied: "Allah Ta'ala has made the earth haraam upon the prophets forever . " (Abu Daud)

The Virtue of this Day

Rasulullah (Allah bless him & give him peace) said: "The word "shaahid" refers to Friday . There is no day more virtuous than Friday. There is such an hour in this day that no Muslim will make dua in it except that his dua will be accepted. And he does not seek protection from anything except that Allah Ta'ala will grant him protection . " (Tirmidhi) The word "shaahid" appears in Surah Burooj . Allah Ta'ala has taken an oath of that day. He says in the Quran:

"By the sky in which there are constellations. By the promised day (of judgement). By the day that witnesses (Friday), and the day that is witnessed (day of Arafah). "

Protection from Punishment in Grave

Rasulullah (Allah bless him & give him peace) said: "The Muslim who passes away on the night or during the day of Friday, Allah Ta'ala saves him from the punishment of the grave . " (Tirmidhi)

Virtues of Surat Al-Baqarah

A Beautiful Recitation of Surah AlBaqarah

A Blessing

Learn Surat Al-Baqarah, because in learning it there is blessing, in ignoring it there is sorrow, and the sorceresses cannot memorize it.

An Intercessor

He kept silent for a while and then said, Learn Surat Al-Baqarah and Al `Imran because they are two lights and they shade their people on the Day of Resurrection, just as two clouds, two spaces of shade or two lines of (flying) birds. The Qur'an will meet its companion in the shape of a pale-faced man on the Day of Resurrection when his grave is opened. The Qur'an will ask him, 'Do you know me' The man will say, 'I do not know you.'

Honor and Prestige

The Qur'an will say, 'I am your companion, the Qur'an, which has brought you thirst during the heat and made you stay up during the night. Every merchant has his certain trade. But, this Day, you are behind all types of trade.' Kingship will then be given to him in his right hand, eternal life in his left hand and the crown of grace will be placed on his head. His parents will also be granted two garments that the people of this life could never afford. They will say, 'Why were we granted these garments' It will be said, 'Because your son was carrying the Qur'an.' It will be said (to the reader of the Qur'an), 'Read and ascend through the levels of Paradise.' He will go on ascending as long as he recites, whether reciting slowly or quickly.)''

The Best of People

The  Best

It was narrated that Sa’eed ibn Jubayr said: Ibn ‘Abbaas said to me: “Have you gotten married?”

I said: “No.”

He said: “Get married, for the best of this ummah are the ones with the most wives.” Narrated by al-Bukhaari (5069)

Its Sunnah

"Marriage is my sunnah. Whoever keeps away from it is not from me."

Do not fear the people

"‘But you did hide in yourself that which Allah

will make manifest, you did fear the people

whereas Allah had a better right that you

should fear Him’. "

  Get Married

Allah will grant ease after hardship

"Let the wealthy man spend according to his means; and let

the man whose provisions are restricted spend according to

what Allah has given him. Allah does not burden a soul

beyond what He has given it, and Allah will grant ease after a

hardship. " (Al-Talaq65:7)

The Remembrance of Allah

63:9

"O you who have believed, let not your wealth and your children divert you from remembrance of Allah . And whoever does that - then those are the losers." (63:9)

Our Need for Guidance: In Qur'an

Qur'an

It is a reminder. Allah reminds us of what we find the most difficult to remember like having Taqwa of Allah.

We must read Qur'an.

Harvard University holds Qur'an verse as "Great Expression of Justice"

Surat An-Nisaa

Surat An-Nisaa

At the main entrance to Harvard Law School, a text from a verse in the Koran Chapter "The Women" was placed, presenting it as one of the greatest examples of justice in history.

nisaa

A Harvard student, a native of Saudi Arabia, Abdullah Jumma, the text at the entrance and posted it on his Twitter page. This was reported by a Saudi paper Ajel in Arabic

The Verse Reads

"O you who believe! Stand out firmly for justice, as witnesses to Allah, even as against yourselves, or your parents, or your kin, and whether it be (against) rich or poor: for Allah can best protect both. Follow not the lusts (of your hearts), lest you swerve, and if you distort justice or decline to do justice, verily Allah is well-acquainted with all that you do."
(The Holy Quran, Chapter 4. "The Women", verse 135).
